Understanding the appeal of Facebook.

Facebooks popularity.

Your customers love Facebook. They enjoy connecting with family and friends but they also love finding you on their everyday social network too.

Facebook has been around for so long that many assume its had its day but that couldn’t be further from the truth. As times have changed so has the most popular social network in the world. It’s becoming as much as a staple to the internet as Google.

Whether they use it or not, all of your customers know about Facebook. This isn’t relegated to a single age bracket either. There’s a new generation using Facebook along with an older generation who find it an easy way to test the waters of social media.

Many surveys have been conducted where 80% of Facebook users refer to interact with businesses via Facebook rather than email or over the phone. Understanding why these customers like to communicate in this way is the quickest way to inducing brand loyalty.

Here are the reasons why your customers love to connect with you via Facebook:

  1. They Have Backup

The average Facebook user has over 150 friends on the social network. When they log on they feel safe and secure as they’re surrounded by friends and family. This gives them extra confidence. It’s also a bonus for you, as it means they’re interacting from a good place.

  1. Convenience

Most Facebook users log in at least once a day (or never log out). Therefor the APP is already open and finding you is simply a case of putting your brand into the search bar. They know when they reach your page they can message, post publicly, review or comment. This is much easier than trying to find an online form on your website.

  1. Traceability

Facebook will tell a use when you’ve responded to a post. The user will probably see this within a few hours.

  1. Familiarity

Many brands love using Facebook for business as it bridges the gap between consumer and business and makes the customer feel as though they are talking to a friend rather than a brand.

Facebook is here to stay and despite claims of the younger generation forsaking it for Twitter or Snapchat it’s actually more popular than ever. Even generation Y love Facebook as they can connect to whole classrooms of people as well as their extended family too.

Of course, it is important to maintain the professional stance when interacting on Facebook. Our other post, on what makes a good Facebook post can help with this.
